Cousin Betty Releases Debut Album
Cousin Betty seems to be one of those bands that have been around and referenced for so long, that one could assume they have a plethora of studio albums – but not the case. Cousin Betty’s debut self-titled album, just off the vinyl press, is an eclectic mix of everything brilliant about “Rock” music.
A modern day masterpiece; without recourse to over indulgence. It’s Opeth meets The Police, it’s Psyche/Punk/Pop/Grunge and lead promotional track Weddings In Space; while deliciously mid-period Queen meets Minor Threat….fuck! Enough with the references. I’d be astounded if anyone could articulate what a clever and impressive debut album this is.
Seemingly designed for the attention span of the iPod generation, with its genre swapping and Pop-length earworms, is definitely one of those albums where a new favourite emerges after each listen. The tasteful production alone is worth the investment.
Featuring members of Molten Universe, Nitocris, Spurs For Jesus, LITTER & Death Mattel and out thru Vi-Nil Records.
