Spectral Gates ‘Perihelion’ Out Now
The mark of a truly excellent dance or instrumental act, is getting through a hook-riddled pop gem and not missing a vocal at all. This is the magic of Spectral Gates. If DJ Shadow and The Cure had a love child their latest single, sparkler, is how it would express it’s love for its mother. A less demanding press release might just say “here’s a song”, we’re saying that if you don’t walk away humming this lush chorus, you have no soul.
The Sydney two-piece self-describe as noisy post-rock-dubby-electro-pastoral-folktronica-soundtracking, and while these terms certainly cover the breadth of their work; sparkler, being off their 3rd album perihelion, is much more readily definable.
